Telltale compasses are intentionally upside down. They are designed to be read from below the instrument, looking up. Manufactured exclusively for us by Ritchie Navigation to our specifications, this has been by far the most successful non-jewelry (except for its jeweled bearing) design ever offered. Our traditional, externally gimballed, bronze masterpiece is the right size (3" dial) for most installations and is designed to be installed either on a bulkhead or overhead as shown. Very salty and thoroughly tested aboard our Noeta.
Overall dimensions: top to bottom 2 ¼", side to side 5 ¼".
All Ritchie compasses are filled with a highly refined, low-viscosity damping fluid that allows the dial to move smoothly within the bowl and lock on to magnetic north faster than other compasses.
